Kingdom-minded

What does it mean to be “kingdom-minded?”  All believers across the world are part of the capital C-Church.  We are all part of the body of Christ.  However, many churches focus all their efforts on their own local church.  When a church focuses just on itself, it can place their church above God.  That is idolatry.  How can churches break down the walls that separate them and work together to reach common goals?  I am sure this can take on many different looks.  Here are some examples that I have seen:

1.  Missions.  Love In Action International Ministries has been a conduit for the last seven or so to allow churches to work together to minister to the homeless and poor.  We have seen a huge number of people saved through our efforts.

2.  Resources.  The One Prayer series did a great job of sharing resources and connecting churches June of last year.  Churches came together across the globe to raise money to plant churches.  They will do the same thing this year as well.

Lifechurch.tv gives away their graphics, messages, worship videos, and other resources to any church that wants them.  Thousands of churches that otherwise would not be able to afford quality resources are able to use them.

3.  Fellowship.  I’ve been to churches where two churches combined their services every quarter or so on a Sunday night.

Just do it.  Plan an event together.  Whether that means an outreach, a fellowship, or something else, do something together.  This requires pastors and leaders to lay down their pride.  Churches should be competing with the Devil and not with each other.  We can do more together, than we can on our own!  When we lift up the name of Jesus, He will draw men unto Himself.  What do you think?

  1. You are right Bro. We’ve got to be kingdom-minded and not self-centered. That’s one of the things I love about our Love In Action outreaches. No church banner is ever raised. Just the banner of Jesus Christ, and we have seen thousands come to know Jesus over the past nine years. Last Saturday there were volunteers from at least six different churches from two states working together as one and 10 people got saved. Praise God!
Pastor Mike has always promoted events at other churches, and Pastor Ralph at Harvest does too. That’s another way of working together. Now is the time for the Body of Christ to stand together. The world has no hope, no future without Jesus. Let’s work together and share Jesus with the world.

  2. Wow…great talking point. You are one of those kingdom-minded people. Sometimes I think as church leaders we forget that we are all on the same team, but in the attempt to grow and prosper we become territorial.

  3. I think it is great that you encourage us to be kingdom minded. As a matter of fact, I fully believe the Kingdom is the gospel. Jesus came preaching, “Repent, for the Kingom of Heaven is at hand!” Jesus proclaimed the arrival of the Kingdom, and that’s exactly what we should be doing. The arrival of the Kingdom is the gospel. We should be telling others that the Kingdom has actually arrived, not fully, but it is here with us on earth nonetheless.
