Book Review: The Dip by Seth Godin

the-dip-graph1

In The DipSeth Godin helps you to think long-term about quitting.  He rejects the notion that winners never quit and quitters never win.  Whether it’s a ministry, a business, or a relationship, we have all gone through dips.  “Dips are the long slogs between starting and stopping.”  Most ventures have high rewards at the beginning, but then become less rewarding and more difficult.  If it is a typical situation (see the graph), put enough effort in and you will reap the benefits.  However, there are some situations that are cliffs.  With cliffs, no matter how much effort you put forth, you will not see an increase in rewards.  Are you quitting the right things, so that you can focus your efforts in other areas that will be more rewarding?  Do you count the costs before jumping into a new activity?  Seth Godin helps you ask these questions and more in this little book.
