Deep and Wide Youth Ministry

For some time now, Dare 2 Share Ministries has encouraged youth ministries to go deep & wide.  This idea stems from the great commission that Jesus laid out before He ascended to heaven:

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.  Matthew 28:19-20

As individuals and a youth ministry, we need to go deep in our relationship with Christ.  We should be digging deep into God’s Word.  Our prayer life should also be gaining strength.  We should be obeying all that Jesus commanded us.

We should also go wide with the gospel.  Our ministry should be seeing people accept Christ as their Lord and Savior.  As individuals, we should be telling others about Jesus and/or getting them to church where they will here the gospel presented.

So as a youth ministry and as individuals, we must go deep in our relationship with God and wide with the gospel of Jesus Christ.  How are you going deep & wide?

If you are no longer a teenager, don’t worry all of this applies to you as well.  🙂

One Response to “Deep and Wide Youth Ministry”

  1. Good blog Bro.

Jesus says in John 15: 1-8, “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”

That’s how to grow in Jesus, stay hooked into Him. Do things His way, not ours.

And remember with His Great Commission, we are not by ourselves when we “go.” Jesus promises to be with us everywhere we go. We are going alongside with Jesus, and He is indeed making us fishers of men. (Matthew 4:19)

    Love you man.
